Daisy taught us all we know about dachshunds. We adopted her when she was 6 years old and she lived to be 16. She had 4 herniated discs, but regained her mobility in her cart (without surgery), using her cart as a walker.
Sweet Pea came to us from the NYC - ASPCA. She taught us about pitbulls, and what amazing dogs they are. In our efforts to meet her needs, we devised the first ambulation track and the first adjustable tilting saddle. She lived with us for 6 years, finally succumbing to cancer at the age of 12.
Willa and Webster are sibling chih-weiners born missing their front legs. We have learned so much from them about how to design, build and train dogs to use front wheel carts. How nice for them to be able to sit in their carts with their heads up and proud!
We adopted Beau in November 2013 because he needed more help that most dogs we meet. Beau has a crushed spine due to having been used as a bait dog in a dog fighting ring. His ears were too closely cropped, his rear legs are spastic with no deep pain sensation but with reflexes intact, and his shoulders needed strengthening. We needed a dog to develop protocols for our adjustable stand. Beau needed intensive rehab. He uses the stand for traction, acupuncture, and physical therapy. Using the stand has allowed him to become mobile in his wheelchair. Beau has attended rehab conferences with us to introduce our land-based rehab equipment with the hope that wide use of our products will make rehab more widely available and affordable for more dogs in need.
Scooter joined our team in January of 2017. Ed and Leslie drove to sunny Florida to pick him up from LoveyLoaves Rescue. He has adjusted well to New England's ever-changing climate and absolutely loves the snow. Scooter is an 8 year old dachshund that is a spinal walker, which means that he uses his cart more like a walker despite the fact that he has no feeling in his toes. He is also bladder retentive and is teaching us how to express a male dog. He has fit in quite well with all the others here at Eddie's Wheels and already feels like part of the family. Scout passed away in 2018.
