Jude's Story

Jude, a beagle border collie puppy,  was found in a ditch beside the road in a small town in West Virginia.   He had been shot in the back and dumped off a pick-up truck to die.  But Jude was lucky.  Someone noticed him, and he was rescued, transported to SARAH (Shelter Alliance and Resources for Animals with Handicaps – www.sarahandicaps.org ) where Nancy Cummings took charge of his healing.

Jude's spinal cord was severed by the bullets lodged in his spine.  At only one year of age, he will most likely spend the rest of his life dependent on a cart for his mobility. 

We were honored to be chosen to provide him with his wheels.  Nancy heard about us from Sue Marino of Angel's Gate Hospice (www.angelsgate.org) .  She took the drive up to have Jude measured on a lovely autumn day.

Jude arrived here with the staples still in his back from the surgery he just had to remove the bullets.  This lucky dog had a cart waiting for him that was built to the right size.

It had been built for another dog, but hadn't quite fit Myles, so it was here, waiting for the perfect little male dog to take it home.

Back to being a hound, nose to the ground, taking in the pungent autumn smells……

Now all he needs is a "forever" home.
